Chapter 11
Dayhike to Venable Lakes and Venable Pass

Today it was back to the Comanche and Venable Trailhead for our 10.2 mile round-trip hike to Venable Lakes and Venable Pass. The hike starts out by taking the Rainbow Trail over to the Venable Lakes Trail. Then it's a gentle climb up thru some woods, past the ruins of an old cabin, and then finally out of the trees. When we arrived at Lower Venable Lake we stopped for lunch along the shoreline.

After lunch we proceeded on up to Venable Pass for a great view back down the valley we had just hiked up. We stayed at the pass for a while taking photos. From the pass we could have taken the Phantom Terrace over to the Comanche Trail and come back down to the trailhead that way, but we chose to go back out the way we came in.
