Chapter 8
Drive to Lander Wyoming

This was an easy day. We left Pinedale in the morning and drove 134 miles down around the southern end of the Wind River Range and then up to Lander, WY. There we found a laundromat and while Diane did many loads of laundry, I dried out all the tent and rainfly parts by draping them over the car while it sat parked in front of the Laundromat under a clear blue sunny sky.

That evening we met up with our friends (Nora and Duncan, and Barbara and Rick) who had flew in from Washington, DC that afternoon and then we all checked into a motel. From now on, no more backpacking, sleeping in tents, and eating freeze dried food! We were dayhiking, sleeping in cheap motels, and eating out every morning and evening!

Red Canyon

This was the major site to see on the way between Pinedale and Lander. It was approximately near the South Pass area. If I remember right , it's called Red Canyon. There was a roadside sign explaining the geology behind it. However, I couldn't find any info on it once I got back home.
